Chef Thomas Keller (of the French Laundry, Per Se, Bouchon and Ad Hoc) recently published a new book:
Via the interwebs I found out he was coming to Orange County for a book signing and I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to meet culinary greatness.
Arrived an hour before the signing and there was already a long queue, but not too bad. After buying a copy of Ad Hoc At Home (and totally regretting to bring The French Laundry book as I read online that he wasn’t signing anything but the new book, but when I got there, found out he’d sign anything, heck he’d sign your jacket if you asked him to), got in line. Chatted with my fellow attendees, some of which were seasoned chef book signings participants, an executive chef at a very nice Orange County seafood house, and aerospace engineers who faked being sick to come meet Chef Keller in person.
We were ushered in groups of ten.
The man himself.
And a giddy me!
Was kind of a loss for what to say, but was able to have a short conversation. He’s a very gracious, soft-spoken person and it was an honor to finally meet him. One of the best days of my life.
My beautiful signed copy:
